In a recent development reported by Autoblog, General Motors has applied a modest price adjustment to its all-electric 2024 GMC Hummer EV pickup, varying by trim level. The pricing revisions, amounting to up to $1,600, have been enacted across the range to account for factors such as inflation and production costs.
The most economical variant, the EV2X, now carries a starting price of $98,845, marking a $1,600 increment from its prior cost. Similarly, the EV3X model sees its price increase by $700, bringing it to $106,945. The premium EV3X Omega Edition, the highest tier offering, encounters a mere $300 uptick, launching at a new price point of $150,295.
Despite these adjustments, the percentage increase remains relatively marginal, with the EV2X observing less than a 2 percent surge and the Omega Edition experiencing a meager 0.02 percent elevation. Counteracting this upward shift, GMC’s online configuration tool features substantial discounts in the summary section. Buyers of EV2X configurations are presented with an $8,150 instant reduction, while those opting for EV3X setups benefit from a $6,250 discount. Consequently, the net result sees the prices reverting to levels reminiscent of the pre-2022 figures.
With the application of these discounts, the foundational Hummer EV pickup now bears a price tag of $90,695, whereas the more advanced EV3X commences at $100,695. It is noteworthy, however, that the website has not disclosed the expiration date for these discounts nor provided information regarding the launch of the entry-level EV2 variant.
Last year, General Motors initiated a price increase of $6,250 for both the Hummer EV pickup and SUV body styles. This decision was attributed to rising costs of essential components, technological enhancements, and logistical considerations. Remarkably, the automaker assured customers who had placed orders for the Hummer EV prior to June 18, 2022 ā a substantial count of over 77,000 ā that the base Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of their vehicles would remain unaffected.
In a further update earlier this year, GMC extended the estimated range for the 2024 Hummer EV pickup in its 3X specification. Equipped with the large 24-module battery and standard 22-inch wheels featuring 35-inch All-Terrain tires, the range was extended from last year’s 355 miles to an impressive 381 miles on a full charge.
Despite a considerable number of reservations for the sizable all-electric vehicle, General Motors faced delivery challenges in the initial half of the year. A shortage of Ultium battery pack module components was cited as the key impediment, resulting in the delivery of only 49 Hummer EV pickups. Company officials are optimistic about a manufacturing surge in the latter half of the year to address these constraints and meet the mounting demand.
