The latest generation of Lexus RX is officially launched globally in Japan (1/6). This is the fifth generation Lexus RX marketed worldwide.
This latest Lexus RX is built using the GA-K platform. The Lexus RX measures 4,890 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,695 mm in height.
When compared to the previous model it is 25 mm wider and 10 mm taller. Its wheelbase is 2,850 mm, 60 mm longer than its predecessor.
This GA-K platform application makes the latest Lexus RX has a lighter weight of 90 kg and a lower center of gravity by 15 mm.
The front suspension uses a MacPherson sturt while the rear relies on a multi-link.
The latest Lexus RX is equipped with a number of engine options and drive systems.
There are conventional, hybrid (Hybrid Electric Vehicle, HEV) and plug-in hybrid (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV) engines.
For conventional engines there is a 4-cylinder 2,400 cc turbo (T24A-FTS).
If the hybrid uses two types of engines, namely 4-cylinder 2,500 cc (A25A-FXS) and 4-cylinder 2,400 cc turbo (T24A-FTS). Well, for plug-in hybrids, use a 2,500 cc 4-cylinder engine (A25A-FXS).
There is a transmission that uses an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic for the Lexus RX with a conventional engine.
Meanwhile, all Lexus RX hybrids rely on a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The choice of the latest Lexus RX drive system is also diverse. There are front wheel motion (FF), All Wheel Drive (AWD), E-Four (AWD system that uses a motor on the rear wheel), and DIRECT4.
So based on the engine and drive system, a total of 6 types of Lexus RX are available. There are the Lexus RX 350 2.4 Turbo FF, Lexus RX 350 2.4 Turbo AWD, Lexus RX 350h 2.5 FF, Lexus RX 350h 2.5 E-Four, Lexus RX 450h+ 2.5 PHEV E-Four, and RX 500h 2.4 Turbo DIRECT4.
