Zero Motorcycles says its Zero DS has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled by an electric motorcycle without recharging, covering 436.5 kilometres on a single battery charge.

The ride exceeded the previous reported record of approximately 311 kilometres, achieved by a Verge TS Pro in 2025, by 125.8 kilometres. The company said the attempt involved three standard Zero electric motorcycles travelling through the French-Italian Alpine region towards the Mediterranean coast.

Three Motorcycles Exceed Previous Record

All three motorcycles surpassed the previous distance, according to Zero Motorcycles. Louis Renaud rode a Zero SR/S for 350 kilometres, finishing with 4% battery remaining. Jenny Brooks covered 384 kilometres on a Zero DSR/X.

Jelle Verstaen rode the Zero DS with an additional Power Tank battery to reach the final distance of 436.5 kilometres. The last 100 kilometres took place in heavy rain, with strong crosswinds adding to the riding conditions.

Battery Capacity and Riding Strategy

The record-setting Zero DS was equipped with the standard 15.6 kWh battery and an optional 3.6 kWh Power Tank, bringing total battery capacity to 19.2 kWh.

Zero Motorcycles attributed the distance to the motorcycle’s efficiency and the riders’ approach. The team maintained moderate speeds on quieter roads, travelled during periods of limited traffic and used Alpine descents to recover energy through regenerative braking. Tyre pressure was also considered.

The Zero DS is a dual-sport electric motorcycle designed for road use and light off-road riding. The company lists an urban range of 249 kilometres for the standard model.

Zero Motorcycles said no special vehicle modifications were required for the record attempt. The reported 436.5-kilometre distance was achieved using the production motorcycle with the additional battery pack and carefully managed riding conditions.
