Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Zeekr has reported a strong rebound in its monthly deliveries, according to data released on Friday. The company delivered 6,663 EVs in March, marking a 271.20% increase from the same month in 2022 and a 22.14% rise from February 2023. However, Zeekr’s first-quarter delivery figure of 15,234 was down 53.08% from its fourth-quarter figure of 32,467.
The company’s decrease in deliveries in the first quarter was mainly due to a production halt at its Ningbo, Zhejiang plant for 21 days around the Chinese New Year holiday. The factory resumed production on February 1, resulting in Zeekr delivering only 3,116 vehicles in January. The halt marked a new low for the company’s deliveries since April 2022.
Despite the drop in deliveries in the first quarter, Zeekr saw an 84.86% increase in deliveries compared to the same period last year, when it delivered 8,241 EVs. Zeekr was officially launched as an independent EV company in March 2021, and its first model, the Zeekr 001, was launched on April 15, 2021, with deliveries starting in October 2021. The company’s second model, the Zeekr 009 MPV, was launched on November 1, 2022, with deliveries beginning on January 15.
As of March 31, 2023, Zeekr has delivered 93,182 vehicles since its inception. The EV maker aims to double its sales from 2022 to 140,000 units in 2023, with plans to launch two new models. The upcoming Zeekr X has already been listed on a regulatory filing in February.
