Geely’s high-end electric vehicle (NEV) brand, Zeekr, has quickly gained traction with its 7X electric crossover, securing 20,000 firm orders just 18 days after its market debut on September 20. The brand has set an ambitious goal of delivering 10,000 units in the first month of sales.
The Zeekr 7X received strong initial interest, with 6,000 firm orders placed within 24 hours of its launch. By October 7, the company had delivered 5,000 vehicles to customers.
The rapid sales momentum positions the 7X as a significant player in China’s electric SUV market, although it still lags behind the Tesla Model Y, the current best-selling SUV in China. In August 2024, Tesla sold 45,330 Model Y units, underscoring the competitive landscape.
Zeekr’s 7X is priced between 229,900 and 269,900 yuan (approximately 32,750 to 38,500 USD) and is based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). Styled by former Bentley designer Stefan Sielaff, the 7X incorporates Zeekr’s “Hidden Energy” design language, featuring a distinctive Stargate interactive panel at the front. The SUV measures 4,825 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm.
Inside, the 7X offers a spacious five-seat layout with a 15.05-inch central touchscreen and a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster. Notable features include a power leg rest, folding table, and a 13-inch screen for the rear right passenger, along with a 765-liter trunk capacity.
The 7X comes in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. The RWD model delivers 310 kW (416 hp) and offers two battery options of 75 kWh and 100 kWh, providing a range of 605 to 780 km. The AWD version produces 475 kW (637 hp) and comes with a 100 kWh battery for a 705 km range.
With over 340 directly-operated outlets in China, Zeekr is positioning itself to expand further as demand for the 7X grows. While not yet matching Tesla’s dominance, Zeekr’s strong initial sales suggest it could become a significant competitor in the electric SUV market.
