The Guangzhou plant took nine and a half months to complete the first prototype vehicle after construction began in September 2020. It was approved by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for vehicle production in December 2022.

XPeng’s G9, based on a new platform, went on sale in September 2022 and is produced at the Guangzhou plant. The plant has an initial design capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year and is expected to open for customers and partners in early March.
