Xpeng  announced that its upcoming G7 sport utility vehicle will be the first model to incorporate Huawei’s augmented reality heads-up display (AR-HUD) solution, marking a notable partnership between the two Chinese technology firms.

While heads-up displays (HUDs) are common in modern vehicles, Xpeng highlighted on Weibo that delivering an effective AR-HUD remains a significant technical challenge. The system, jointly developed with Huawei, offers what the company described as “the industry’s most advanced HUD hardware and software capabilities.”

The AR-HUD projects key driving information onto the windshield, including remaining driving range, status of assisted driving systems, vehicle speed, and navigation prompts, enhancing driver awareness and safety, according to promotional materials released by Xpeng.

Xpeng had earlier previewed the G7 in January, positioning it as a highly competitive SUV in the RMB 250,000 ($34,810) price segment for 2025. The vehicle measures 4,892 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,655 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm—dimensions that slightly exceed those of Tesla’s Model Y, which measures 4,797 mm by 1,920 mm by 1,624 mm with an identical wheelbase.

Currently, Xpeng’s SUV lineup includes the G6 and G9 models, both upgraded earlier this year, alongside a range of other vehicles such as the Mona M03, P7+ and P7i sedans, and the X9 multi-purpose vehicle.
