Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has begun pre-sales of its new P7+ sedan in China, offering a price significantly lower than Tesla’s Model 3. The P7+ was introduced by Xpeng’s Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng at the Paris auto show on Monday, marking its debut to European consumers.

Pre-sales for the P7+ start at RMB 209,800 ($29,610) in China, a price that is RMB 22,100 (9.53%) less than Tesla’s Model 3, which starts at RMB 231,900. In line with typical EV launches in China, the price of the P7+ could drop further when the model officially hits the market. Customers who place a reservation with a RMB 99 deposit will receive an additional RMB 3,000 discount at purchase.

Xpeng had earlier unveiled the P7+ at an event in Shenzhen on October 10, with the company touting it as the “world’s first AI car.” The new model, internally codenamed F57, is set to begin deliveries in China by early November. Unlike its predecessor, the P7+, will not feature LiDAR, instead relying on Xpeng’s “Eagle Eye” vision solution powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips. Its smart driving system, the Xpeng Navigation Guided Pilot (XNGP), will also be available at launch.

The P7+ is a mid-to-large electric sedan, measuring 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,512 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm—slightly larger than Xpeng’s previous P7i model.

Show cars for the P7+ are now available at Xpeng stores in 25 cities across China, with all outlets expected to have the model by the end of the month, the company said.
