Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, has made a significant move into the French automotive market by launching its G9 and G6 SUVs. This expansion is part of the company’s V 2.0 strategy for internationalization, aimed at strengthening its presence beyond China.
The Xpeng G9, the flagship SUV, is available in three variants in France – Standard Range, Long Range (rear-wheel drive), and Performance (4-wheel drive). The prices start at €59,990 ($64,960) for the Standard Range and go up to €73,990 for the Performance version.
The G9 boasts a 78.2 kWh or 98 kWh battery capacity, with performance ranging from 230 kW (312 hp) to 405 kW (550 hp). The G9 Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and offers a range of up to 570 kilometers.
The Xpeng G6, designed to rival Tesla’s Model Y, is also offered in three versions in France – Standard Range, Long Range (rear-wheel drive), and Performance (4-wheel drive). It features two battery capacities – 66 kWh and 87.5 kWh, offering a range of up to 570 kilometers. The G6 Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
Both the G9 and G6 models are based on an 800 V high-voltage platform, supporting a charging power of 300 kW, allowing for a quick charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
Xpeng’s entry into the French market follows its successful launches in China, where the G9 and G6 have garnered positive attention. The company’s focus on international markets is evident, with recent dealer partnerships announced in regions such as the UAE, Egypt, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and Australia.
