The XPeng G9 electric SUV seems to be getting a good start from potential buyers. After 24 hours of opening, there were 22,819 pre-orders, the company announced on Weibo.

According to the company, the majority of consumers who pre-order are men, as much as 77 percent. Meanwhile, the 10 cities with the most XPeng G9 pre-orders were Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Wuhan, Chongqing, Ningbo and Suzhou.

The company announced on August 10 that the G9 electric SUV is available for pre-order, with the official launch set for September.

Xpeng’s flagship SUV was initially launched at the Guangzhou auto show in late November last year.

To be able to pre-order, consumers can pay RMB 2,000 ($300) to enter the queue, and the deposit can be refunded at any time.

The company promises consumers who pay the deposit can get a discount of 5,000 yuan for a guaranteed purchase.

The XPeng G9 is the first electric vehicle to be built on an 800V high-voltage SiC platform. This electric SUV promises a range of 200 km with a charging time of only 5 minutes. This capability makes it a mass production vehicle with the fastest charging capability in the world.
