Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Xpeng has expanded its international presence by entering the Singapore automotive market. The company marked its entry on July 25 with the launch of a pop-up store at UOB Plaza in the central business district, as announced on Weibo.
Visitors to the pop-up showroom can test drive the Xpeng G6 SUV, according to the company. Pre-sales have begun, offering exclusive privileges and discounts for UOB customers. Xpeng’s first official store in Singapore is scheduled to open in September.
“We are excited for the launch of XPENG in Singapore. As one of the global leaders in smart electric vehicles, we are passionate about bringing vehicles with cutting-edge technology to the market,” said Lee Hoe Lone, Managing Director of Premium Automobiles, Xpeng’s local distributor.
The G6, a competitor to Tesla’s Model Y, was launched in China on June 29, 2023, with deliveries starting in early July. Xpeng announced on May 8 its partnership with Australian dealer TrueEV, planning to launch the G6 in Australia in the fourth quarter.
Xpeng introduced the G6 and another SUV, the G9, in France on May 16 and showcased the G6 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 in the UK earlier this month. Additionally, on July 19, Xpeng opened its first showroom in Hong Kong and will begin delivering the G6 there in the third quarter.
