Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has entered the Mexican market with the launch of its G6 and G9 electric SUVs, marking a further step in its international expansion strategy across Latin America.
The company unveiled both models at an event in Mexico City on March 25, with initial dealership openings scheduled from April 6 in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Xpeng said it has partnered with three local dealer groups to manage sales and aftersales services in these key urban markets.
The G6 and G9 are built on Xpeng’s 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform, supporting 5C ultra-fast charging. Both vehicles are equipped with the company’s XPILOT ASSIST driver-assistance system, offering features such as highway driving assistance, urban following, automated parking and smart summon. The SUVs also include voice-controlled interfaces with multi-zone recognition and customizable driving scenarios.
Pricing for the G6 starts at 819,900 Mexican pesos (about $45,300), with higher trims reaching 919,900 pesos. The larger G9 is priced from 1,099,900 pesos (about $60,800), rising to 1,259,900 pesos for the performance variant. Xpeng said it will offer a 20,000-peso discount for the first 100 G6 customers.
To support operations, the company has established a 1,000-square-meter spare parts warehouse in Mexico, stocking more than 2,000 stock-keeping units. Delivery times are expected to range from one to three days in major regions and up to five days nationwide.
Alex Tang, Head of International Development and Service Center at Xpeng, described the move as part of a broader global strategy. “Mexico is a strategic market for Xpeng in Latin America and globally. We are committed to providing exceptional products and hassle-free services to build a reliable sales and after-sales network,” he said.
Eduardo Aranda, Chief Operating Officer of Xpeng Mexico, emphasized the company’s focus on customer experience. “Customer experience is a key driver for Xpeng Mexico. Therefore, we are confident that the G6 and G9, equipped with the latest AI technology and delivering the best customer experience, will enable Xpeng to become one of the most trusted and beloved brands in Mexico,” he said.
The overseas push follows a period of improving financial performance for Xpeng. The company reported its first net profit since inception in the fourth quarter of 2025, posting a GAAP net profit of 380 million yuan ($50 million), compared with a net loss of 1.33 billion yuan a year earlier. On a non-GAAP basis, net profit reached 510 million yuan, versus a loss of 1.39 billion yuan in the same quarter of 2024.
In early March, Xpeng also expanded its product lineup in China, launching an extended-range version of the G6 SUV as it moves into the hybrid segment. The model starts at 186,800 yuan ($27,080), slightly above the 176,800 yuan starting price of the fully electric 2026 G6 introduced earlier this year.
Separately, the company introduced an updated 2026 version of its X9 pure-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), reducing the starting price by 50,000 yuan to 309,800 yuan ($42,600) in an effort to strengthen its position in China’s premium EV segment.
Xpeng said the G6 is currently sold in more than 40 countries and ranks among the top-selling midsize electric vehicles from Chinese brands in markets such as Norway, Germany and Spain. The G9 has also achieved leading positions in its segment in several European markets, including Italy and Germany.
