Xpeng is expanding its reach beyond retail vehicle sales after delivering 1,300 electric vehicles to Chinese rental platform Car Inc, strengthening a partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of smart electric mobility across the country.

The latest delivery forms part of Car Inc’s fleet modernization strategy and provides Xpeng with another channel to showcase its intelligent driving technologies to a broader customer base.

Expanding Presence in Vehicle Rentals

The vehicles were officially handed over during a ceremony in Beijing attended by Xpeng Chairman and Chief Executive Officer He Xiaopeng and Car Inc Chairman Yu Hongfei.

The delivery includes the Mona M03 sedan, P7+ sedan and X9 multi-purpose vehicle, covering a range of customer segments.

According to Xpeng, Car Inc has now purchased more than 5,000 of its vehicles and intends to acquire at least another 5,000 units over the next 12 months.

The new fleet will be deployed across major tourist destinations, transportation hubs and key rental locations throughout China.

Bringing Smart EV Technology to More Drivers

Xpeng views the rental market as an opportunity to introduce more consumers to its intelligent vehicle technologies before they consider purchasing an electric vehicle.

Car Inc said its continued investment reflects confidence in Xpeng’s second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) intelligent driving platform and advanced smart cockpit technologies.

As one of China’s largest vehicle rental companies, Car Inc is upgrading its fleet with greater emphasis on electrification, intelligent features and higher-quality vehicles as customer expectations continue to evolve.

Part of a Broader Electrification Strategy

Car Inc is pursuing a diversified procurement strategy rather than relying on a single automaker.

Earlier this year, the company signed a framework agreement with BYD covering the purchase of 100,000 new-energy vehicles. The partnership also includes plans to install BYD’s latest flash-charging infrastructure at selected rental locations.

Sales Momentum Continues

The rental fleet expansion comes as Xpeng’s overall vehicle deliveries return to growth.

The company delivered 40,126 vehicles in June, representing a 15.9% increase from the same month a year earlier and its strongest monthly performance of 2026.

The rebound follows the launch of several new models, including the Mona series’ first sport utility vehicle, the Mona L03.

Unveiled in China on July 2, the Mona L03 entered pre-sales with a starting price of 143,800 yuan and is being marketed as an intelligent SUV designed for younger buyers, further broadening Xpeng’s product lineup as competition intensifies in China’s electric vehicle market.
