Xpeng Begins Production of Mona M03, Set for Official Launch This Month

Xpeng has commenced mass production of its Mona M03, the first model in its new Mona lineup, with the official launch anticipated by the end of this month. The first production units of the M03 have already rolled off the assembly line, according to Xpeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng, who made the announcement on Weibo.

Xpeng is accelerating its final preparations for the Mona M03’s market debut, aiming to deliver the vehicles as soon as they become available. “Our team is working hard to ensure that customers can receive their vehicles quickly once they are released,” Mr. He stated.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer began accepting reservations for the Mona M03 on August 8, requiring a RMB 99 ($13.80) deposit. Customers who make a reservation will receive a RMB 3,000 discount on the purchase of the car.

The Mona M03, which was first unveiled on July 3, is an electric sedan that measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm, according to regulatory filings from June 13. The vehicle is offered in two variants, both single-motor models, with peak motor power of 140 kW and 160 kW, respectively. These motors are supplied by Inovance Automotive and Physis Technology.

Both versions of the Xpeng Mona M03 are equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries from FinDreams Battery, the battery division of Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant BYD. This battery technology is also used in Nio’s Onvo L60, highlighting a trend among Chinese EV manufacturers to adopt these reliable and cost-effective batteries.

Xpeng’s launch of the Mona M03 represents a significant step in its strategy to expand its lineup and reach a broader market, with the company’s focus on accelerating production and delivery timelines underscoring its commitment to meeting consumer demand.
