Xpeng has opened pre-sales for the 2025 X9 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), unveiling a series of hardware and design upgrades that accompany a higher starting price. The updated model starts at RMB 399,800 ($54,500), reflecting an increase of RMB 40,000, or 11.12%, over the previous version’s base price.
The automaker said the 2025 X9 offers 496 upgrades, including enhancements to comfort and performance. “The new X9 comes with hardware upgrades worth up to RMB 80,000 and incorporates a 35 percent refresh in design and components,” the company said in a statement.

While the higher pre-sale pricing suggests a shift in positioning, it may also set the stage for discounts at the official launch, scheduled for next week. Customers placing a RMB 2,000 deposit before the launch are eligible for a RMB 5,000 deduction on the final price.
Built on Xpeng’s SEPA 2.0 smart electric platform, the X9 is the brand’s flagship MPV and its most expensive model to date. It now runs on an 800-volt high-voltage platform, providing a maximum range of up to 740 kilometers and energy consumption as low as 16.2 kWh per 100 km, according to company specifications.

The model retains both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The single-motor variant delivers up to 235 kW, while the dual-motor option adds a rear motor with 135 kW peak output. Rear-wheel steering enables a turning radius of 5.4 meters, aiming to improve urban maneuverability.
Notably, the updated X9 removes the LiDAR system featured in its predecessor, instead adopting Xpeng’s vision-based Turing AI smart driving system. The same autonomous driving software was recently introduced in the revised G6 and G9 sport utility vehicles.
