Xiaomi announced on Monday that its flagship electric sedan, the SU7 Ultra, will be featured in the PlayStation 5 racing simulation Gran Turismo 7, marking the first appearance of a Chinese car in the franchise’s history. Alongside this, Xiaomi revealed plans to collaborate with the game’s developer, Polyphony Digital, to create a Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept car within the virtual racing environment.

Gran Turismo, which launched in 1997 under producer Kazunori Yamauchi, is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading racing simulators. The franchise includes licenses from numerous major automotive manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Toyota, and Honda, along with top performance parts brands. It features over 1,000 vehicles and more than 50 real-world racing tracks.

Commenting on the partnership, Kazunori Yamauchi said, “I’m excited to start this collaboration with Xiaomi. China’s automotive industry is evolving rapidly, and Xiaomi’s entry into this field is impressive. Their SU7 Ultra prototype even set a Nürburgring lap record. I’m moved by Xiaomi’s courage, curiosity, passion, and relentless effort. These qualities resonate deeply with the spirit of Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital.”

Xiaomi’s founder and CEO Lei Jun added, “We share Mr. Yamauchi’s belief in building a better society through technology. Xiaomi has always strived to make innovation accessible to everyone, and the inclusion of the SU7 Ultra in Gran Turismo allows global players and car culture enthusiasts to experience the charm of high-performance intelligent vehicles from China.”

The SU7 Ultra represents Xiaomi’s top-tier electric vehicle, featuring a Xiaomi-developed V8s motor with a peak speed of 27,200 rpm, a three-motor system delivering a combined 1,548 PS, and a track-grade battery system. The car can reach speeds over 350 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds.
