Xiaomi has issued its first vehicle recall, targeting 30,931 SU7 Standard Edition electric cars following reports of accidents linked to its parking assistance feature. The affected vehicles were manufactured between February 6, 2024, and November 26, 2024.
The recall, effective immediately, involves a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to address the issue, as per a statement on the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) website.

The recall was prompted by user complaints about a timing synchronization anomaly in the parking assistance system, which hindered the detection of static obstacles and increased the risk of collisions.
Xiaomi EV, the car-making division of the Beijing-based technology giant, stated in a Q&A that it received 255 complaints after incidents reported on November 14.
The issue was attributed to a rare software malfunction in a cloud-based service. In response, the company implemented safeguards and redundant protection strategies within the system.
Xiaomi EV launched the SU7 electric sedan, its first model, in March 2024 as a competitor to Tesla’s Model 3. Priced from RMB 215,900 ($29,800), the SU7 is available in Standard, Pro, and Max versions.
CEO Lei Jun confirmed that Xiaomi delivered over 135,000 vehicles in 2024, with a target of 300,000 deliveries in 2025. The company is also preparing for the mid-2025 release of its second EV model, the YU7 SUV.
