Chinese automakers Xiaomi and Aito have emerged as leaders in the resale value of new energy vehicles (NEVs), according to the 2025 H1 China Automobile Resale Value Research Report released by the China Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) this week.

In the pure electric vehicle (EV) segment, the Xiaomi SU7 has taken the top position, achieving a one-year resale value of 88.91%. The figure places it ahead of several popular EV models on the market. The Aito M9 ranks second among pure electric vehicles, with a resale value of 84.45%.

The Aito M9 also leads the plug-in hybrid (PHEV and extended-range EV) category, where it recorded a one-year resale value of 85.23%, the highest in its segment.

Xiaomi’s SU7 is seen as benefiting from a combination of strong brand influence and high demand. “The launch of the YU7 has offered only limited relief for the SU7’s delivery schedule, and customers purchasing an SU7 today still face waits of many weeks,” the report noted. As a result, buyers unwilling to wait are increasingly turning to the used market, helping maintain high residual values.

The SU7’s sporty design and Xiaomi’s broader tech appeal have also played a role in bolstering buyer interest. Analysts expect the brand’s newly launched YU7 crossover to show similarly strong value retention after its full-scale rollout.

China’s NEV market has grown rapidly in recent years, and resale performance is becoming an important metric for consumer decision-making. CADA’s report highlights the growing maturity of the EV and hybrid segments, where brand reputation and supply-demand dynamics are playing an increasingly influential role in determining long-term vehicle value.
