Wren Kitchens has introduced Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric tractor units into its UK delivery fleet, marking the first phase of the company’s Positive Planet strategy aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.
The battery-electric trucks were supplied by commercial vehicle dealer Rygor Auto and will be used across Wren Kitchens’ nationwide delivery network.
The purchase received partial support from the UK Department for Transport’s £1 billion zero-emission commercial vehicle programme, which is designed to accelerate the adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks.
Supporting Fleet Decarbonization
Wren Kitchens said the deployment of the new electric trucks represents an important step in reducing emissions while maintaining delivery performance across its logistics operations.
The company also highlighted the vehicles’ advanced safety technologies and improved driver environment.
Phil Bennett, National Fleet Manager at Wren Kitchens, said the vehicles support several operational objectives.
“Maintaining our industry-leading delivery performance while improving safety and reducing emissions is critical, and the eActros 600s allow us to do all three.”
“They’re equipped with the latest safety systems and give our drivers a significantly enhanced working environment.”
High-Capacity Electric Trucks
According to Daimler Truck, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is equipped with a 621-kilowatt-hour battery capable of providing a driving range of at least 500 kilometers, with potential to reach 750 kilometers under certain operating conditions.
The truck supports 400-kilowatt DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately one hour.
Daimler Truck said the vehicle delivers up to 600 kilowatts of peak power and features regenerative braking together with Predictive Powertrain Control to improve driving efficiency.
Partnership for Fleet Transition
Nicola Dainter-Kemsley, Key Account Manager at Daimler Truck UK, said the deployment reflects Wren Kitchens’ broader transition toward electric freight transport.
“Seeing the eActros hit the road as part of such an ambitious electrification journey is a real milestone, and we’re excited to be part of it.”
“It’s a real privilege to work with Wren Kitchens on this transition and to help support the next chapter of their logistics operation.”
The rollout forms part of Wren Kitchens’ long-term strategy to expand the use of zero-emission commercial vehicles across its national transport network.
