Xpeng’s X9 seven-seat extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) has appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing, revealing key specifications ahead of its official launch in the fourth quarter.
The new model will use the company’s Kunpeng Super Range Extender system and is expected to deliver a pure electric driving range of around 450 km, according to markings on the prototype.
Declared dimensions are 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width and 1,785 mm in height, with a 3,160 mm wheelbase and a curb weight of 2,750 kg. Compared with the current battery-electric X9, the EREV is slightly longer while other dimensions remain unchanged.
The range-extender system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 110 kW (148 hp) with lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by CALB-Tech.
Battery capacity and other detailed powertrain figures have yet to be disclosed. Xpeng said the model has undergone extensive testing, with over 1,000 trial units covering more than 20 million km in 20 countries and 330 cities over 800 days.
For comparison, the 2025 Xpeng X9 BEV is priced from 359,800 to 419,800 yuan ($49,900–$57,800) and offers up to 740 km of range depending on configuration.
It runs on an 800V platform, with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, and includes features such as a 17.3-inch central display, a rear 21.4-inch entertainment screen, zero-gravity seats, and a 23-speaker audio system.
