The Toyota GR GT3 was launched at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022. And, it became one of the concept cars that stole the most attention.

While it’s unclear whether the Japanese automaker actually intends to build a production version and race with Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division, there’s no denying that the GR GT3 Concept looks very different from the other GT3 race cars that Toyota has built before.

The front of the Toyota GR GT3 Concept has a large grille and a prominent splitter to aid aerodynamics. This car also has a set of split headlights.

The length of the hood makes the concept more visible and includes large air vents, as well as a grille above the front wheel arches. This makes for a proper race car, also equipped with center locking wheels wrapped in Bridgestone tires and equipped with a large set of brakes.

Toyota has also equipped it with an exhaust that exits just behind the front wheels, and has small mirrors and a roofline similar to the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe.

Meanwhile, at the rear of the concept is a large wing with an upright swan neck and LED light bar that stretches out the full width. Toyota has also equipped it with a large diffuser to attach the driven wheels to the ground.

Perhaps the most important thing about the Toyota GR GT3 Concept is that it is not based on existing production cars, such as the Lexus RC F GT3 and Supra GT300 race cars.
