Autonomous driving company WeRide on Tuesday announced an expanded partnership with Tencent Cloud to speed up the global commercialization of its Robotaxi services, marking a key step in its international growth strategy.
The collaboration will integrate WeRide’s autonomous driving technology into Tencent’s digital platforms, including the Smart Transportation Mini Program on Weixin/WeChat, aiming to deliver safer and more convenient travel experiences for users.
As part of the deal, WeRide and Tencent Cloud will co-develop intelligent driving solutions tailored to overseas markets, leveraging Tencent’s global cloud infrastructure. The companies said the partnership will support localized and compliant operations, helping WeRide to scale its autonomous services more efficiently across various regions.
The expanded alliance will also focus on building advanced cloud platforms and development tools to support research, deployment, and regulatory compliance in different countries.
WeRide and Tencent Cloud previously collaborated with German auto supplier Bosch on a driver assistance system that was completed in 18 months. The companies said that success demonstrated the effectiveness of their partnership.
“We are deepening our cooperation to accelerate intelligent driving solutions for the global market,” said a WeRide spokesperson.
WeRide currently operates in more than 30 cities across 10 countries and holds driverless permits in markets such as China, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Tencent Cloud, a subsidiary of Chinese tech giant Tencent, provides cloud and AI services to drive digital transformation in multiple industries.
The companies said their partnership will continue to focus on innovation and regulatory alignment to ensure safe and scalable deployment of autonomous technologies worldwide.
