WeRide has launched a “WeRide Go” Mini Program on Tencent’s WeChat platform, allowing users to book robotaxi rides directly through the messaging app in parts of Guangzhou and Beijing, the company said.

The Mini Program enables users to request autonomous rides without downloading a standalone application, giving WeRide access to WeChat’s user base of more than one billion people. Customers can search for “WeRide Go” within WeChat to access the service.

The new booking channel is currently available in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district and Beijing’s Yizhuang district, two areas where WeRide already operates autonomous driving services. The company said the integration is intended to lower barriers for first-time users while continuing to offer its existing WeRide Go ride-hailing app as an alternative access point.

WeRide operates a global fleet of more than 1,000 robotaxis and provides fully driverless services in Guangzhou, Beijing and Abu Dhabi. The company has stated that it is targeting commercial deployment of tens of thousands of robotaxis by 2030.

Beyond China and the United Arab Emirates, WeRide holds autonomous driving permits in several other markets, including Singapore, France, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Belgium and the United States. Its vehicles have been tested or operated in more than 40 cities across 11 countries, according to the company.

WeRide’s technology portfolio spans Level 2 to Level 4 autonomous driving systems, supported by its WeRide One platform, which is designed for applications across mobility, logistics and urban services.
