Voyah, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under Dongfeng Motor, will integrate DeepSeek’s AI model into its Zhiyin SUV, making it the first production vehicle to adopt the technology, local media outlet 36kr reported.

The smart cockpit of the Zhiyin has completed deep integration with DeepSeek and is set to commence knowledge distillation training on February 14. Voyah’s Dream MPV will also incorporate DeepSeek’s AI models, further expanding the brand’s AI-driven offerings.

The DeepSeek R1 model has been fully integrated into Voyah’s cockpit system, enabling advanced features such as AI-powered multi-semantic command recognition, AI-generated poetry and paintings, AI chat capabilities, and real-time AI information retrieval.

This integration aims to enhance the responsiveness, accuracy, and scalability of Voyah’s in-car AI system while optimizing development costs. Zhiyin’s cloud-based platform will continuously refine the DeepSeek R1 model through iterative updates, allowing for continuous advancements in smart cockpit functionality.

Voyah Zhiyin users will experience these AI capabilities through an over-the-air (OTA) update beginning February 14, with further enhancements rolled out gradually. Launched on October 13, 2024, the Zhiyin SUV is priced from RMB 196,900 ($27,020).

DeepSeek R1, recognized for its competitive edge over OpenAI’s o1 model at a lower training cost, has gained significant traction, especially during the recent Chinese New Year holiday. On February 5, Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng emphasized AI’s transformative potential, highlighting DeepSeek’s disruptive impact on the global tech industry. Meanwhile, Geely Auto recently announced a similar deep integration of its AI-powered Geely Xingrui model with DeepSeek technology.
