The freely available app can be downloaded on both Android and Apple devices, and its primary objective is to enable emergency personnel to swiftly gather vital information from electric trucks upon arrival at the scene. By employing a combination of connectivity, cameras, sensors, 3D modeling, and augmented reality overlays, the app offers first responders an intricate view of the vehicle, ensuring the implementation of safe rescue operations.

The Emergency Response Guide app is now accessible for download from the Android and Apple stores. It offers comprehensive safety information for all heavy-duty electric truck brands under the Volvo Group, including Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, and Mack Trucks. Notably, augmented reality features will be integrated into Mack electric trucks in June 2023.

Stenqvist acknowledges the importance of ensuring the safety of first responders who may encounter incidents involving electric vehicles. Vincent Barnoux, an AR Expert & Business Solution Engineer at Volvo Group, reports that the safety app has successfully undergone numerous rounds of testing and has been actively utilized by first responders in real-world scenarios. He notes positive feedback received from these professionals who have employed the app in the field.

The introduction of this safety app by the Volvo Group underscores their dedication to advancing the field of electric trucks and their ongoing commitment to prioritizing the well-being of emergency personnel. By harnessing augmented reality technology, Volvo Group aims to enhance the effectiveness and safety of emergency response efforts in the face of potential electric vehicle incidents.
