Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has now marketed the ECR25 Electric excavator zero emission construction machine in the Asian market. This is in response to the increasing market focus on more sustainable construction solutions.

This 2.5 ton electric battery powered excavator is the first Volvo electric construction machine to arrive on the Asian market. After South Korea, the Swedish manufacturer will expand its reach from China, Japan to Singapore.

Jaetack Lim, Head of Market Korea Volvo CE Region Asia said that demand for electric equipment has grown across the region, driven by stronger emission regulations, government incentives and an urgent desire to build more sustainably.

“It recognizes the need to work more sustainably and embrace new technologies that will enable us to address the global climate change crisis with equipment that delivers less noise, less vibration and no emissions,” he explained in his official website, Tuesday (29/3/2022). ).

The Volvo ECR25 Electric excavator has proven successful in Europe and North America since its launch in 2019, thanks to its ability to match power and performance with zero emissions, silence and a much more comfortable working environment for the operator.

Jaetack Lim explained that Korea was chosen as the first market in Asia because of its adoption of new technologies and innovative ways of working as well as its fast response in building electric charging infrastructure.

“We are proud to be at the forefront of being the first major manufacturer to offer electrical solutions to a very significant area of the global construction equipment market.”

The introduction of electric excavator engines to the Asian market is the next step in Volvo CE’s ambition to move to a sustainable line of compact excavators and wheel loaders and stop developing diesel engine-based models.

“This launch also represents the company’s continued investment in building the world we want to live in with electric solutions that are a major part of that ambition,” said Jaetack Lim.

This ECR25 Electric excavator is equipped with an integrated charger that allows customers to charge it from 0 to 80% in less than six hours. With the optional fast off-board charger (380V-420V three-phase), it only takes one hour to charge from 0 to 80%.

“This is the ideal solution for customers in Asia who want to meet emissions regulations while maintaining the same level of productivity they expect from their diesel partners,” concluded Jaetack Lim.
