Team Volton has launched the world’s first Bicycle Scooty , which gives the rider the utility of a scooty and the ease of a cycle . The BOOTY series , a word which is a portmanteau word derived from Bicycle and Scooty It is powered by a 250 watt PMDC mid drive motor unlike the hub motors which are used in other electric cycle variants . The mid drive motor gives it phenomenal torque which helps it climb flyovers purely on the throttle mode and gives it a magnificent and unmatched load bearing capacity of 140 kg .
The elongate seat has been so designed to be able to seat two people comfortably unlike other electric cycles which have a weight carrying capacity of 85 kg and can seat only one person. Another distinct advantage of using the mid drive motor is the it make BOOTY the only electric cycle which can travel in the rain and can even wade through one feet deep water.
Yet another benefit is that the pedal drive train and the motor drive train are isolated from each other thereby improving the efficiency of the motor and making the ease of pedalling the same as like a normal cycle . In addition when using the throttle and the pedal together both complement each other and impart more power to the Booty, making Booty probably the only cycle suitable for driving on the hills
To make the construction more robust and make the Booty an all-terrain bike the hub used in the wheel rim are mega hubs which are used in MTBs , the sprockets / free wheels are MTB full ball , the chain wheel is cottreless , the wheels are 20 X 3 inch ( fat tires ) , the 20 inch rim has been especially developed to have 36 spokes instead of 20 so as to impart more strength and durability to the cycle.
The tyres used are of Ralson and the tubes are butyl tubes . The rear wheel has disc brakes and the front wheel has power brakes . The Booty has a provision for fitting a front basket , rear view mirrors and GPS tracker which are available at an additional cost . The Booty has been specially designed with a box in the rear for food and grocery deliveries .
Saftey is the top priority of Team Volton , and keeping this in mind the Booty comes with a Lithium Phosphate battery which does not catch fire or blast and has a life of 1800 cycles compared to Lithium Ion batteries which have a life of 750 cycle and run the risk of catching fire or blasting as has been visible in the near past . Beside this the Booty comes with an inbuilt MCB for overload and over heat protection . The Booty comes with in built brake light , hazard light and headlight for protection of the rider when travelling at night.
Understanding that different customers have different needs the Booty has been introduced in three variants .
- Booty – 120: uses a 36 Ah battery pack which gives a range of between 90 – 100 km purely on the throttle mode ,depending on the weight of a single rider in real time and travels between 130 to 150 Km with pedal assist .It has been priced @INR 41,000 to make it affordable for the masses.
- Booty – 60: uses a 20 Ah battery pack which gives a range of between 55-60 km purely on the throttle mode ,depending on the weight of a single rider in real time and travels between 75 to 80 Km with pedal assist .It has been priced @INR 34,000 to make it affordable for the masses
- Booty – 30: uses a 12 Ah battery pack which gives a range of between 25-30 km purely on the throttle mode ,depending on the weight of a single rider in real time and travels between 45 to 50 Km with pedal assist .It has been priced @INR 28,000 to make it affordable for the masses
Moreover to make it affordable and easy for the customers , Team Volton has tied up with HDFC bank for financing of the Booty @ INR 1800 per month and has tied up with Axis Bank for online transaction and EMI facility on debit and credit cards.
