Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz has been awarded the title of 2025 Green Van of the Year™ by Green Car Journal, acknowledging its role as an electric reinterpretation of the classic VW Microbus. This recognition is part of the journal’s annual Green Car Awards, which also honored the Fiat 500e as the Urban Green Car of the Year™ for the second year running and the Ford Maverick as the Commercial Green Truck of the Year™.
The ID. Buzz features options for single or dual electric motors, producing between 282 and 330 horsepower. It seats up to seven passengers and has a driving range of up to 234 miles. The vehicle was selected over competitors such as the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Kia Carnival, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter EV, and Toyota Sienna.
Ron Cogan, Editor and Publisher of Green Car Journal, noted the significance of the ID. Buzz as a modern version of the VW Microbus and highlighted the accomplishments of the Fiat 500e and Ford Maverick in their respective categories.
The Fiat 500e was recognized for its compact design and suitability for urban driving, outperforming models like the Hyundai Kona, MINI Countryman SE ALL4, and Nissan Kicks.
The Ford Maverick was chosen as the Commercial Green Truck of the Year™ for its hybrid efficiency and practicality for work purposes, surpassing finalists including the Bollinger B4, Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Isuzu NRR EV.
Green Car Journal also acknowledged several other vehicles across different categories for 2025, including the Toyota Camry as the Green Car of the Year, the Volvo EX90 as the Luxury Green Car of the Year, and the Chevrolet Equinox EV as the Green SUV of the Year.
