Car buyers in the United States eyeing the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 could be in for substantial savings, thanks to enticing discounts available for the all-electric SUV.
Shoppers considering a lease on the 2023 ID.4 are set to benefit from a $7,500 lease incentive, mirroring the federal EV tax credit of the same amount applicable to qualifying EV purchases in the U.S. Since May 1, Volkswagen has sweetened the deal with a Customer Bonus on the ID.4, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 depending on the trim level.
For the base ID.4, customers can enjoy savings of up to $12,500 by combining the $7,500 incentive with the $5,000 bonus. The discount increases for higher trims within the ID.4 lineup.
For instance, the ID.4 Pro comes with a $6,500 bonus, translating to a $14,000 reduction from the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). The savings escalate further with the ID.4 Pro S, offering a $15,000 discount with a $7,500 bonus. The AWD Pro S and RWD Pro S Plus models take it even higher with a $16,500 discount, courtesy of a $9,000 bonus. The AWD Pro S Plus goes a step further, featuring a $10,000 bonus and the $7,500 lease incentive, according to a report by Cars Direct.
These substantial bonuses are exclusive to the outgoing 2023 model year ID.4s. While Volkswagen’s inventory levels remain undisclosed, the company appears keen to clear out these models to pave the way for the 2024 model year. However, opting for a 2023 model means missing out on some of the upgrades introduced in the 2024 version.
For instance, the 2024 ID.4 offers an enhanced powertrain, with rear-wheel-drive models now boasting 282 horsepower compared to the capped 201 horsepower in the 2023 models. Furthermore, 82 kWh models of the 2024 ID.4 feature a new 12.9-inch infotainment display with a revamped climate control interface, including touch-sensitive and backlit temperature sliders.
