Volkswagen Group has expanded access to factory-installed vehicle connectivity by integrating six of its automotive brands into Webfleet’s OEM.connect platform, allowing fleet operators to access vehicle data without installing aftermarket telematics hardware.

The integration covers Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Škoda, SEAT, Cupra, and Audi. Vehicles can be connected through the platform using their vehicle identification number (VIN), enabling fleet operators to activate connected services within minutes.

The collaboration reflects a broader trend among automotive manufacturers seeking to generate additional revenue by making factory-generated vehicle data available through fleet software providers.

Factory Data Available Across Mixed Fleets

Through the OEM.connect platform, fleet operators can access information including fuel levels, electric vehicle battery status, vehicle performance, and maintenance or health alerts from a single Webfleet dashboard, even when managing mixed-brand fleets.

Volkswagen Group Info Services AG, which was established in 2019 as the group’s cross-brand vehicle data gateway, serves as both the contracting entity and the source of vehicle data for the integration.

Jan-Maarten de Vries, President of Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone, said the partnership simplifies access to connected fleet services.

“We always aim to make connecting vehicles to Webfleet as quick and easy as possible. Adding six Volkswagen Group brands to OEM.connect serves that goal perfectly. Fleet operators get immediate access to valuable data that helps them optimise their operations. This collaboration represents an important step in expanding our OEM.connect ecosystem, enabling fleets to adopt connected services faster and with less complexity.”

Connected Fleet Services Continue to Expand

Volkswagen Group said the partnership supports the continued development of connected fleet management services across Europe while maintaining secure handling of vehicle information.

Lasse Schmidt van Hülst, Lead Sales and Key Account Management at Volkswagen Group Info Services AG, said making vehicle data available through trusted technology partners can help improve fleet operations.

“Combining our vehicle data with Webfleet’s advanced fleet solutions supports the continued development of connected fleet services across Europe. By making vehicle data available through trusted partners, we are helping fleet operators improve performance, while ensuring secure and compliant data use.”

The agreement expands Webfleet’s OEM.connect ecosystem, which enables fleets to use factory-installed connectivity instead of separate telematics devices, reducing installation complexity while providing access to operational vehicle data.
