Taxi Xanh Sapa has recently announced a pivotal partnership with Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast. This collaborative agreement signifies Taxi Xanh Sapa’s commitment to transitioning its conventional petrol-powered fleet to environmentally friendly VinFast electric vehicles (EVs).

According to the terms of the agreement, Taxi Xanh Sapa is set to acquire a total of 250 VinFast electric cars, including the VinFast VF e34 and VF 5 Plus models, over the course of 2023 and 2024. These new EVs will gradually replace the company’s existing petrol vehicles, reflecting a substantial step towards reducing their environmental footprint.

The genesis of this partnership can be traced back to Taxi Xanh Sapa’s successful trial run of 20 VinFast VF 5 Plus cars over a one-month period. This trial, conducted in Sa Pa town within Lao Cai province, yielded promising results, driven in part by noteworthy fuel savings and reduced operational costs. Encouraged by these positive outcomes, Taxi Xanh Sapa is enthusiastic about expanding its eco-friendly operations into neighboring provinces.

The partnership also extends to the Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), which operates the first all-electric taxi service in Hanoi and provides electric car rental services to both traditional and online taxi providers and their drivers. As part of this collaboration, GSM will oversee the delivery of the initial batch of 30 VinFast vehicles within the upcoming month.

Nguyen Van Thanh, General Director of GSM, expressed his support for this collaboration, stating, “GSM always welcomes and is ready to support transportation businesses such as Thanh Thuy MTV Company [the operator of Taxi Xanh Sapa] in contributing to the transformation of public transportation and the promotion of sustainability in Vietnam. The presence of Sapa Green Taxi also presents an opportunity to introduce the SM Xanh brand and VinFast electric vehicles to both domestic and international tourists, thereby promoting the values of environmentally conscious living.”

Furthermore, GSM has ambitious plans to expand the presence of its SM Green brand across 27 provinces and cities in Vietnam during 2023. This expansion initiative aims to introduce up to 20,000 electric taxis and 60,000 electric motorbikes, further emphasizing the commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
