VinFast is adding two electric vehicle portfolios to their US-bound family. The Vietnamese company is showing the production versions of the 2024 VinFast VF6 and VF7 at the LA auto show.
The VF6 and VF7 will complement the two previous Vinfast portfolios, the two-row VF8 and three-row VF9 SUVs for the North American market. A VinFast spokesperson said that the company will add a physical sales and service center by the end of next year. Each model will also be backed by a 10-year, or 125,000-mile VinFast warranty.
VinFast hasn’t announced pricing for the VF6 or VF7 yet. Analysts expect the two electric vehicles to cost less than the previous two electric SUVs at the low end of $30k, while the larger one will have a base price of just over $35,000.
Like the VF8 and VF9, VinFast will offer the VF6 and VF7 with or without a monthly battery subscription.
The VF 6 has an overall length of 4,238 mm and a short wheelbase of 2,730 mm, which promises maneuverability in the city and easy parking. And using 174 horsepower and 201 hp in the top-of-the-line Plus trim, the VF 6 can be a city karr in urban areas. Both versions are powered by a single motor up front that drives the front wheels only.
Meanwhile, the VF 7 comes with a larger size with a wheelbase that is 110 mm longer and stretches about 307 mm more from stem to stern, and so is it in the mid-size segment. It’s also 70mm wider, so expect a much more spacious cabin.
The VF7 will also get a larger 15.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment system with the same connectivity features as the 6. Along with the fabric upholstery on the VF7 Eco, the Plus trim level comes with “premium” faux leather.
