Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast launched deliveries of its VF 9 electric SUV in the United States on Monday, marking the arrival of its first large, three-row SUV in the market. The event, held at VinFast’s U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles, saw the delivery of the first eight VF 9 units to customers.
VinFast, founded in 2017 as a subsidiary of Vingroup, entered the U.S. market in 2023 with its VF 8 mid-size electric SUV. The VF 9, which has been available in Vietnam since the 2023 model year, is now ready to expand its presence in North America after earlier sales in Southeast Asia and Europe.
The VF 9 comes in two trims: Eco and Plus. The Eco version, starting at $69,800, offers a 330-mile range, while the Plus model, priced at $73,800, features additional comforts, including massaging seats and a panoramic roof. However, the Plus version has a slightly reduced range of 291 miles, owing to larger 21-inch wheels. Both trims feature the same battery and motor configurations.
VinFast is also offering a limited-time promotion for the first 100 deliveries of the VF 9 Plus, with leasing available for $529 per month with a $2,000 down payment.
In addition to its U.S. debut, VinFast has officially expanded into the Middle East, with its first showroom opened in Dubai, UAE, in partnership with Al Tayer Motors. The company also reported a strong third quarter, delivering 21,912 electric vehicles globally, a 66% increase from the previous quarter and a 116% year-over-year rise.
VinFast is set to release its third-quarter financial results on November 26, which are expected to offer more insight into the company’s growing global footprint and EV production progress.
