Triumph Motorcycles recently revealed the full details and features of the TE-1 electric motorcycle project developed with Williams Advanced Engineering.

The British two-wheeler manufacturer released the results of the last prototype test, and this electric sportbike is claimed to have a range of up to 161 km. According to Triumph, the TE-1’s recorded range significantly exceeds the range of equivalent electric motorcycles currently available.

In terms of performance, the TE-1 is claimed to be able to produce a peak power of 175 hp and be able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. This figure puts the TE-1 on par with Triumph’s flagship sportbike, the Speed Triple 1200 RS, which makes 177.5hp and 125Nm of torque.

In addition, the TE takes only 20 minutes of charging time to reach 80% battery capacity, the fastest charging record for an equivalent electric motorcycle today. Triumph also claims that the TE-1 is 20% lighter than its competitors.

“We are very proud to share the positive results of the completion of Project Triumph TE‑1, where the demonstration prototype has exceeded many of our initial targets and expectations,” said Nick Bloor, CEO, Triumph Motorcycles.

Dyrr Ardash, Head of Strategic Partnerships, Williams Advanced Engineering, also commented: “WAE is delighted to have been involved in this exciting program to present the TE-1 prototype.”

“Since the concept in 2018, all partners have worked with collaboration, innovation and passion to bring boundary-breaking prototypes to life. It’s great to hear positive comments from riders confirming that the bike’s dynamics align with Triumph’s DNA,” added Ardash.

Apart from that, the TE-1 Project is reportedly not ready for production, and could only be a prototype that will become a benchmark for production-ready electric motorcycles in the near future.
