Tozz Enters E-Motorcycle Market with Retro-Themed Joyce’90, Drawing Inspiration from the 90s

Turkey-based e-mobility firm, Tozz, known for its urban mobility solutions, expands its product line with the introduction of the Joyce’90, a retro-inspired electric motorcycle paying homage to the 90s era. Embracing the prevalent trend of nostalgia-driven designs within the automotive and motorcycle industry, Tozz aims to capture the essence of iconic mini-motos from the past.

The Joyce’90 follows Tozz’s success in the e-scooter market, featuring retro-themed models like the Pipegun Original and Pipegun Sixteen. The company’s foray into the e-motorcycle domain marks a deliberate step towards leveraging nostalgia to resonate with consumers. In recent years, established brands like Triumph and Royal Enfield have demonstrated the enduring appeal of retro-inspired motorcycles.

Taking inspiration from the iconic Honda Cub EZ90 and other mini-motos of its time, the Joyce’90 showcases a design that evokes a blend of futuristic aesthetics and nostalgic elements reminiscent of the 90s. Set to enter production in March 2024, the motorcycle boasts distinctive features, including a pop-up headlight, an integrated boombox with Bluetooth connectivity, and retro-inspired bodywork.

While specific performance details remain undisclosed, it’s noted that the Joyce’90 is expected to comply with European regulations, being classified as a Pedelec and eligible for use on bike paths. This classification implies a nominal power output limit of 250 watts, a common standard for electric bicycles.

Although the nominal output may seem modest, historical trends in high-performance e-bikes suggest that peak output could surpass this figure significantly. Notably, the Joyce’90 addresses both style and function, featuring 20-inch wheels with chunky, dual-purpose rubber, along with front and rear suspension to ensure a comfortable ride, potentially even suitable for mild off-road use.

Produced at Joyce Teknoloji’s facility in Ankara, Turkey, the Joyce’90 is anticipated to offer a diverse range of colors and liveries, echoing the vibrant and synthwave-inspired aesthetic of the 90s.
