Toyota has unveiled the updated 2027 Crown, introducing its fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5) across most of the lineup alongside styling revisions and additional standard equipment.
THS 5 Expands Across Crown Lineup
The latest Toyota Hybrid System 5 (THS 5) is now available on the XLE, Limited, and Nightshade grades, while the flagship Platinum continues to use Toyota’s higher-performance Hybrid MAX powertrain.
All four grades retain standard all-wheel drive.

The THS 5 powertrain combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with two motor-generators and front and rear electric motors. Toyota estimates fuel economy at 40 mpg combined, based on U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ratings.
The Platinum grade continues to feature the Hybrid MAX system, pairing a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with a six-speed direct-shift automatic transmission. The powertrain delivers 340 horsepower and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque.
Styling and Equipment Updates
Toyota has refreshed the exterior of the 2027 Crown with a redesigned rear bumper, a new Inked black exterior paint option, and revised Satin-finish hybrid and all-wheel-drive badging across the range.

The Platinum grade now includes red brake calipers and a black beltline window surround as standard.
The Limited grade adds Saddle Tan seating upholstery and a Panoramic View Monitor, while paddle shifters are now standard on the XLE, Limited and Nightshade models.
Pricing and Production
The 2027 Toyota Crown starts at US$41,640 for the XLE grade, while the Platinum model is priced from US$55,190.
Production of the vehicle continues at Toyota’s Tsutsumi Plant in Japan.
The introduction of THS 5 across the Crown’s mainstream grades further expands Toyota’s latest hybrid technology as the company continues to compete in the growing hybrid vehicle segment.
