Tom’s Truck Center, a company based in Southern California, has expanded its selection of electric commercial trucks by including the Class 8 Nikola Tre battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Customers can now purchase Nikola’s zero-emissions trucks at Tom’s Truck Center’s two dealerships, located along Interstate 5 in Santa Ana, Calif., and Santa Fe Springs, Calif. Furthermore, the Nikola Tre hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is expected to be available for purchase by the end of this year.
The Nikola Tre BEV has an estimated range of up to 330 miles on a single charge, while the Nikola Tre FCEV is projected to travel up to 500 miles using a tank of hydrogen.

Nikola Corporations a leading global provider of zero-emissions transportation, energy supply, and infrastructure solutions through its HYLA brand. Nikola’s comprehensive lineup of energy-integrated, zero-emissions trucks is supported by the development of hydrogen supply and refueling infrastructure. This progress is a crucial step towards decarbonizing the heavy-duty transport sector. The company has previously announced the establishment of four refueling stations in Ontario, Colton, West Sacramento, and an area serving the Port of Long Beach.
In addition to the Nikola zero-emission trucks, Tom’s Truck Center currently offers GreenPower EV cargo vans, Ford EV Transit cargo vans, and REE EV Platforms. In the following year, Tom’s will also introduce Hino EV and Isuzu EV trucks to their inventory. To facilitate recharging, Tom’s Truck Center provides two convenient locations equipped with “fast chargers” at their dealerships.
“We are fully committed to supporting the adoption of zero-emission vehicles in the commercial truck industry, and the inclusion of Nikola Tre BEVs, and soon Nikola Tre FCEVs, is a significant addition,” stated KC Heidler, President and CEO of Tom’s Truck Center. “The electrification of vehicles of this size will be a game-changer in reducing overall emissions. We have already witnessed strong sales of the new Nikola trucks, with 14 BEV sales completed last month. These customers are expected to receive their vehicles in May, and we anticipate even higher sales in the upcoming months.”
The California Air Resources Board offers cost-saving incentives to accelerate the transition to zero-emission technologies in commercial vehicles. California is at the forefront of this movement, with initiatives like the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP). HVIP provides point-of-sale vouchers that make electric vehicles more affordable. For instance, with a BEV voucher valued between $120,000 and $186,000, customers can pay a similar purchase price to that of a diesel truck while benefiting from the advantages of electric vehicles. The team members at Tom’s Truck Center collaborate closely with HVIP and other incentive partners, possessing extensive knowledge of the EV commercial market and charging infrastructure options to assist customers.
“The future lies in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles, and we are committed to leading the way in the commercial truck sector,” added Heidler. “We are excited to have these vehicles available at our dealerships, allowing everyone to experience these new electric trucks firsthand.”
