Tide Bus Launches Scandinavia’s Largest Electric Bus Depot in Aalborg with 124 DC Chargers from Kempower

Tide Bus, a leading public transport operator, has established Scandinavia’s largest electric bus depot in Aalborg, Denmark. The depot features 124 fast chargers from hardware supplier Kempower, which are connected to 18 Kempower Power Units. The chargers are designed to be compact and efficient, with the majority of the technology housed in control cabinets rather than at the parking space.

The installation was carried out by GodEnergi and was supported by six transformers that were placed in the surrounding area to ensure a reliable power supply. Tide Bus is collaborating with Nordjyllands Trafikselskab, the public transport authority for Northern Denmark, on this large-scale project.

Kempower is providing not just the hardware, but also the software for monitoring the electric buses and charging infrastructure through its ChargEye cloud-based charging management system. This marks Kempower’s second bus depot project in partnership with GodEnergi in Denmark. The company’s fast-charging products offer a convenient and efficient solution for electric bus operations.

Finnish company Kempower recently made headlines with its involvement in a truck-charging project in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company supplied the hardware for one of the country’s largest private electric truck charging parks, which features 15 charging spots. The CEO of Kempower, Tomi Ristimäki, sees the opening of this depot as just the latest example of the company’s successful bus depot projects in several countries, including Denmark, Sweden, Luxembourg, and Norway.

Ristimäki is enthusiastic about Kempower’s upcoming collaboration with GodEnergi A/S, which he believes will contribute to a greener lifestyle for the people of Denmark. Jan Darville, CEO of GodEnergi, has been a part of the electric mobility market for many years and considers the opening of the Aalborg bus depot as one of the company’s biggest achievements so far. Darville is also impressed by Kempower’s technology and the employees who are passionate about electric vehicles (EVs). Both CEOs look forward to working on more environmentally conscious projects together in the future.
