Have you ever heard or are familiar with the name GMC Granite before? Yups, this name was introduced by General Motors (GM) as a concept car in 2010 ago.
Twelve years ago at the Detroit Motor Show, the public seemed “not ready” for his presence. The design is too futuristic so the public response is not so positive. Nobody was interested in a compact crossover in 2010, but times have changed
Now, GM is eager to revive GMC Granite by filing a trademark application with the USPTO for use in road passenger vehicles.
GM, itself still has an empty slot in the line-up of electric cars for midsize and compact crossover models. The presence of GMC Granite will complete the EV portfolio for GM after the success of the Hummer EV and Silverado.
Since all GM brands use the Ultium architecture, it was much easier for GMC to build an electric car in a much shorter time. With the Granite design work done, GMC shouldn’t hesitate to try to really bring this car to life.
Had GMC revived the design for the Granite that was first introduced in 2010. It’s about time, GMC has a large following and fans who couldn’t get their hands on the Hummer EV or didn’t like the idea of āāa full-size Silverado, they might be more interested in trying out the more futuristic looking Granite.
