Tevva Begins Mass Production of First British-Designed 7.5 Tonne Battery Electric Truck

In October 2021, UK-based electric truck manufacturer Tevva made a major breakthrough in the industry by unveiling the first British-designed 7.5 tonne battery electric truck. The company is now beginning the process of mass production and sales of the innovative vehicle in both the UK and Europe.

Tevva is the first British company to receive European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval for its 7.5t electric truck, which serves as a major endorsement for the vehicle, allowing for large scale production and sales. This approval came as a result of the truck successfully passing a range of 30 system tests, including evaluations for electric safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

The 7.5t electric truck is designed with last-mile and urban deliveries in mind, and offers an impressive range of up to 140 miles from a single charge of its 105 kWh battery. It is also capable of carrying up to 15 Euro-pallets, and can be charged to 90% in just five hours, making it a practical and efficient choice for transportation companies.

Tevva has made history with this electric truck, and is expected to be at the forefront of the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future for transportation.

Tevva is set to unveil a new addition to its lineup later this year – the 7.5t hydrogen-electric truck. This advanced vehicle is equipped with a hydrogen range-extender, allowing it to travel up to 354 miles on a single charge, and can be refueled with hydrogen in just 10 minutes. The battery charge time for the hydrogen-electric truck is also five hours. These specs for both models can be found on the company’s website.

Tevva is manufacturing its trucks at a factory located in London Thames Freeport. The company has already begun delivering its mass-produced electric trucks to customers including Expect Distribution, Travis Perkins, and Royal Mail. With high demand for electric trucks on the rise, Tevva anticipates selling up to 1,000 electric trucks in 2023.
