Tesla’s factory in Texas has achieved a significant milestone in its production of 4680 battery cells, producing enough cells last week to equip 1,000 Cybertrucks. This marks a substantial increase in cell manufacturing, although it remains unclear if this production rate is consistent.
Previously, in 2022, Tesla had announced a production rate of 868,000 4680-format cells within one week, sufficient for around 1,000 vehicles. However, it was uncertain whether these cells were produced solely on the Kato pilot line near the car factory in Fremont, California, or also at the Texas factory.

Electrek has reported sightings of “several hundred Cybertrucks” leaving the Austin factory, suggesting that production of the pickup has ramped up. Tesla, however, has not provided specific figures.
The Cybertruck currently utilizes a 123 kWh battery pack, meaning Tesla has produced at least 123 MWh of battery cells for it. Tesla has also announced an additional battery for the Cybertruck, to be placed on the loading area, aimed at increasing the range to over 500 miles, although details are scarce.
In January 2024, Tesla stated that the production ramp-up for the Cybertruck was not currently jeopardized by the supply of large cells.
