Tesla saw a rebound in its China-made vehicle sales in November, following a decline in October. The company sold 78,856 vehicles in November, which includes both domestic sales and exports, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). This represents a 15.49 percent increase from October’s 68,280 units, but a 4.34 percent decrease compared to 82,432 units sold in November 2023.

Tesla China’s October sales marked the lowest level since April, dropping 22.69 percent from September’s 88,321 units. The company’s Shanghai factory produces the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, which are sold locally in China and exported to international markets. While the CPCA did not provide specific details on deliveries or exports in November, some local media outlets reported that Tesla sold more than 73,000 vehicles in China during the month, reflecting a 12 percent year-on-year increase and an 82 percent rise from October.

In October, Tesla sold 40,485 vehicles in China, with its Shanghai facility exporting 27,795 units. Year-to-date, Tesla China has sold 822,894 vehicles in 2024, marking a 3.60 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

In contrast to Tesla, other major Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers reported mixed sales figures for November. BYD  sold 506,804 new energy vehicles (NEVs), surpassing the 500,000 mark for the second time and achieving its sixth consecutive record month. Nio delivered 20,575 vehicles, up 28.92 percent from last year but down 1.91 percent from October. Xpeng reached a new milestone with 30,895 deliveries, surpassing 30,000 for the first time, marking its third consecutive record month. Li Auto delivered 48,740 vehicles, an 18.79 percent increase from November 2023, but experienced a 5.25 percent decline from October.

Zeekr also reported a strong performance with 27,011 vehicles delivered, its third consecutive record month. While BYD and Li Auto offer both hybrid and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), Tesla, Nio, Xpeng, and Zeekr currently focus exclusively on BEVs.
