Tesla has officially launched an enhanced version of its Autopark feature in the latest Software Update 2024.2.11. CEO Elon Musk had hinted at this development earlier, promising a more robust parking experience for Tesla owners.

According to details from Not a Tesla App, the new Autopark version allows Tesla vehicles to automatically park, including parallel parking, in designated spaces. Drivers will be alerted to potential parking spaces through the vehicle’s display when driving at low speeds. They can then select a highlighted space of their choice for parking.

A Tesla spokesperson emphasized the importance of driver attention even with Autopark engaged, stating, “As with all Autopilot features, you must continue to pay attention and be ready to take immediate action, including canceling Autopark.”

This update is a significant step for Tesla, especially after the company phased out sensors in favor of its Tesla Vision system, which initially limited certain features like Autopark and Smart Summon. However, with the introduction of High-Fidelity Park Assist in a previous update, Tesla has been gradually reintroducing these capabilities to its vehicles.

Musk had previously mentioned a potential renaming of Autopark to “Banish,” indicating the company’s ongoing efforts to innovate and improve its features. Looking ahead, Tesla enthusiasts can expect more exciting updates, with Musk hinting at possible improvements to the Summon feature in the future.

As Tesla continues to refine its autonomous driving capabilities, the rollout of Autopark in the latest software update marks another milestone in the company’s journey towards safer and more efficient driving experiences for its customers.
