Tesla has achieved a significant milestone, producing its 10 millionth drive unit. The announcement was made by the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer on the social media platform X, where a photo was shared showing the drive unit team posing with the 10 millionth unit. While Tesla did not specify the production location, it is believed that the unit was manufactured at Giga Shanghai.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk congratulated the drive unit team on X, stating, “Congrats to the Tesla drivetrain team!”

This milestone follows closely on the heels of Tesla’s announcement less than two months ago that Giga Nevada had produced its five millionth drive unit. This suggests that a substantial portion of Tesla’s drive units have been manufactured at Giga Nevada, which supplies the Fremont Factory.

In addition to this milestone, Tesla recently reported its Q2 2024 vehicle delivery and production results, announcing the delivery of 443,956 vehicles in the second quarter. This brings the company’s total vehicle deliveries to over 6 million since the original Tesla Roadster began deliveries in early 2008.
The bulk of Tesla’s current deliveries consists of the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, both available in single-motor and dual-motor variants. The production of the 10 millionth drive unit is expected to further support Tesla’s expansion of its global vehicle fleet.
