Tesla has officially launched its first store and showroom in Qatar, as part of its expansion efforts in the Middle East after commencing sales in the country late last year.
Announcing the opening, Delivery Operations Supervisor Momo Elmegrahi shared the news in a LinkedIn post on Friday, revealing photos of the new store located at the Doha Festival City mall in Doha. According to Tesla’s website, the store is open seven days a week.
In his post, Elmegrahi stated, “This milestone marks a significant step in our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Our Qatar store will provide customers with the opportunity to experience and purchase our cutting-edge vehicles, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y.”
Qatar, known for having the fourth-highest gross domestic product (GDP) per capita globally, is a major exporter of oil and natural gas. Elmegrahi’s reference to the country gaining an electric vehicle (EV) company highlights the significance of Tesla’s presence in advancing electrification efforts.
Similar to Tesla’s other stores, the new Qatar location will allow customers to visit and purchase vehicles in person, schedule demonstration drives, and access other services. Additionally, Tesla plans to open two Supercharger locations in the capital city later this year, further expanding its infrastructure in the region.
Tesla’s entry into Qatar follows its installation of a Megapack system for the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation in 2020. The 1 MW/4 MWh project, costing around $2.7 million, is located south of Doha in Nuaija and was completed in approximately a year.
