Tesla has expedited the launch of its updated Model 3 Performance in China, with deliveries now expected to start in mid-June, earlier than previously planned.
The company announced on Weibo, “Effective immediately, the Model 3 Performance will move from pre-sales to formal sales, with first deliveries expected to begin in mid-June.”
Listed on Tesla’s Chinese website since April 24, the Model 3 Performance was initially available for pre-sale with a starting price of RMB 335,900 ($46,380), which remains unchanged for the official sales phase.
Previously, local deliveries of the updated Model 3 Performance were slated to begin in the third quarter, according to information on Tesla’s Chinese website.
This acceleration in delivery dates means that Chinese customers will receive the Model 3 sedan’s most powerful variant sooner than anticipated.
In China, the Model 3 lineup currently includes an entry-level rear-wheel-drive version, a long-range all-wheel-drive version, and the Model 3 Performance, priced starting at RMB 231,900 and RMB 271,900, respectively.
Tesla’s Shanghai factory, operational since late 2019, commenced local deliveries of the Model 3 in January 2020 and the Model Y in January 2021.
The updated Model 3 Performance boasts impressive performance figures, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 261 kilometers per hour, with a CLTC range of 623 kilometers.
For comparison, the entry-level Model 3 offers a CLTC range of 606 kilometers, while the long-range version extends that to 713 kilometers.
