Early reviews of Tesla’s Model Y L indicate that the automaker has made significant improvements to passenger seating and cargo space, with automatic folding seats and a redesigned third row setting the vehicle apart from previous models.
The Model Y L, which is seven inches longer than the standard Model Y, introduces a flatter rear design that provides additional headroom for third-row passengers. The SUV adopts a six-seat layout featuring two captain chairs in the second row that recline up to 125 degrees and include heating and ventilation. The third row, though only heated, now accommodates adults with expanded head and knee space compared to earlier versions.

One of the key changes is in cargo flexibility. Unlike the six-seat Model X, the third row in the Model Y L folds completely flat with the touch of a button, aligning with the second-row functionality. With all seats upright, the trunk holds several small suitcases, while folding the rear rows creates significantly more storage capacity.

Additional features include individual trunk-mounted controls for each rear seat, USB-C charging ports, phone holders, A/C vents, cupholders, and reading lights for passengers in the back. These refinements mark Tesla’s latest effort to expand its SUV lineup by offering greater versatility for both passengers and cargo in a more compact package than the Model X.
