Tesla has added a new paint option called Diamond Black for the Model 3 and Model Y, marking a shift in its vehicle customization offerings for North America. The new exterior finish, which replaces the previous Solid Black color, is currently available only in the United States.
Announced via Tesla’s official X account, the Diamond Black paint is described as a deep metallic black with added texture and reflectivity, offering a more dynamic appearance under various lighting conditions compared to the discontinued Solid Black.

The new finish appears to resemble the sparkle seen in Tesla’s Pearl White and Midnight Silver Metallic options, but with a more intense luster.
Although Tesla has yet to release official studio photos of the Diamond Black color, short clips in promotional content show a sleek and glossy surface, suggesting a more premium visual experience.

Customers in the U.S. can now select the option for an additional $1,500 during the configuration process. The option is not yet available in Canada, though pricing is expected to be around C$2,000 once it is rolled out.
Tesla has also reintroduced the Deep Blue Metallic paint option for the refreshed Model Y, coinciding with the end of the Model Y Launch Series and the opening of orders for the regular version of the new model.
