In a recent announcement, Tesla has extended the deadline for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software transfers, allowing customers an additional month to take advantage of the promotional offer. Originally slated to end on August 31, the deadline is now pushed to the end of September, as confirmed by Tesla’s North America account on X.
The promotion enables buyers of new Tesla vehicles to transfer their existing FSD software to a newly purchased car at no additional cost, provided they take delivery before the revised deadline. This move follows Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s decision to extend FSD transfers for “one more quarter” during the company’s shareholder meeting, responding to audience requests.

Initially introduced as a “one-time amnesty” last year, Tesla has since reintroduced the FSD transfer option multiple times. Recent efforts include price reductions for both subscription ($99 USD monthly or CAD $99 in Canada) and one-time purchase ($8,000 USD or CAD $11,000 in Canada) options, along with one-month free trials for new vehicle buyers and mandatory test drives for employees.
Tesla’s ongoing FSD initiatives coincide with its upcoming launch of a robotaxi platform based on FSD technology, slated for unveiling next month. The company has teased a forthcoming mobile application for a ride-hailing service in conjunction with this initiative.
Furthermore, Tesla is preparing to expand FSD into international markets, including China, where testing with the software is already underway.
