Tesla has begun rolling out its latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised software update, v13.2.1, to customers with the company’s Hardware 4 (HW4) computers this week.

The expanded rollout follows an initial deployment of the version earlier this month, with a broader distribution now underway for those using the latest AI4 technology.

Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s Autopilot program lead, confirmed the update via X on Monday, noting that FSD Supervised v13.2.1 is now available for a wider range of AI4-equipped vehicles. Additionally, customers with older Hardware 3 (HW3) units can expect a new version of the software, v12.6, by the end of 2024.

“FSD v13.2.1 is now rolling out wide to AI4 customers! That plus the holiday vehicle software update is coming within a week,” Elluswamy stated. “Team’s working on a much updated v12.6 for AI3 customers by end of this year.”

This rollout addresses concerns raised by some Tesla owners with older vehicles who have criticized the company for limiting the latest FSD features to newer hardware. Despite this, Elluswamy reassured that updates for older systems are still in development.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously discussed the future of FSD in relation to older vehicles, noting that there is a slight possibility Unsupervised FSD might not be compatible with AI3 systems. However, he clarified that owners of these vehicles who purchased FSD would be upgraded. Musk also revealed that the next generation of AI hardware, AI5, is expected to be integrated into Optimus robots and all new vehicles by the end of 2025.

The FSD Supervised v13.2.1 update follows the earlier release of v13 and v13.2, which have received positive feedback for their enhanced ability to navigate complex traffic situations. Early reviews of v13.2.1 highlight its improved obstacle avoidance and cautious handling of traffic violations by other vehicles.

However, some features, such as integrated unpark and smart summon, were notably absent from the Cybertruck’s release notes, with these features expected in a future update.
